Unlocking the Salad Sauce Saga

Eating an overpriced salad may not always be an option for many of us who, while wanting to eat healthy, want to eat affordable too. What if you could make the same salads at home with easily available exotic vegetables and easy-to-make salad dressings, allowing you your daily dose of fibre and antioxidants while being pocket-friendly?

Just gather your basic veggies like lettuce, cucumbers, onions, carrots, tomatoes, seasonal fruits, toasted nuts, among others. There are some classic salad dressing recipes you must try at home. 

Classic Vinaigrette

For making this classic salad dressing, you will have to whisk olive oil, vinegar, mustard or Dijon mustard, maple syrup or honey for sweetness, garlic, salt, and pepper. While whisking continuously, olive oil should be added gradually.

Italian salad dressing

It is a mixture of oregano, salt, parsley, garlic salt, onion powder, sugar, pepper, basil, and salt in a bowl. Cucumbers can be an alternative to celery.

Dressing for watermelon feta mint salad

It is a refreshing combination of lime juice, mint, salt, and pepper. As with other dressings, olive oil can be used as a base to whisk. Whisk in olive oil until blended. Pour over the watermelon mixture and stir until evenly coated. Chill before serving.

It has a creamy blend of soaked, drained cashews and buttermilk, including fresh garlic, salt, pepper, chipotle peppers, onion powder, vinegar and maple syrup. It can be used in Mexican salad to give a spicy and tangy taste.
