Youth stabbed to death in Meghaninagar, police suspect romantic link

A 24-year-old man walking with a friend was allegedly stabbed to death from behind late on Sunday night on Bhargav Road in Ahmedabad’s Meghaninagar, marking the second murder reported in the area within a week. Police suspect that the killing may be linked to a romantic dispute and have begun a detailed investigation.

The deceased, Chandrashekhar Tomar, lived in a joint family in Meghaninagar and worked in a private job to support his household. As per the police, Chandrashekhar was walking along Bhargav Road with a friend when an unidentified assailant approached him from behind and stabbed him multiple times on his back before fleeing the scene.

Chandrashekhar collapsed on the road, bleeding profusely. Locals rushed him to Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead shortly after providing brief emergency treatment.

As news of the incident reached his family, they rushed to the spot in shock. Meghaninagar police arrived soon after and cordoned off the area. Officers said that while the identity of the attacker remains unknown, preliminary leads indicate that the murder may have stemmed from a romantic relationship.

“We are examining personal angles, including the possibility of a love-related dispute. Multiple teams are working to identify the accused,” a senior police officer said.

The police have begun scanning CCTV footage from the vicinity and recording statements of Chandrashekhar’s family and acquaintances. An FIR has been registered, and further investigation is under way.
