A 23-year-old man was allegedly stabbed by two unidentified assailants in Ahmedabad in the early hours of Tuesday in what police suspect to be linked to an old rivalry arising out of a murder case involving the victim’s brother.

According to Krishnanagar police, the incident took place around 3 am on May 26 near the victim’s residence in Krishnanagar area of the city.

Love Manojbhai Tomar, a resident of Kalyan Colony in Vikram Park, told police that he was sleeping outside his house on Monday night when he woke up to urinate near the road outside his residence. At that time, two unidentified men arrived on a Suzuki Burgman scooter, both allegedly wearing black masks and black caps.

The attackers allegedly referred to an earlier murder case filed against Vishal Rajubhai alias ‘Bakra’ Chunara in connection with the killing of the complainant’s brother and demanded that the matter be “settled”.

When the complainant replied that the matter would be decided by the court, one of the assailants allegedly stabbed him once on the left side of his chest with a sharp weapon and threatened to kill him if he did not compromise in the case.

Police said the accused also allegedly damaged a CCTV camera installed near a neighbouring house before fleeing from the spot on the two-wheeler.

Following the attack, local residents gathered at the spot and the injured man was rushed to Civil Hospital in an ambulance for treatment.

An FIR has been registered against two unidentified persons, while the role of Vishal Rajubhai alias Bakra Chunara is also being probed in connection with the alleged conspiracy behind the attack. Further investigation is  under way.
