A 28-year-old man died by suicide after reportedly jumping in front of a moving train near the Khokhra railway crossing on Tuesday evening. Police said they have recovered a suicide note from the spot in which the deceased alleged that financial disputes had driven him to take the extreme step.

The victim has been identified as Kirit Panchal, a resident of the Khokhra area in Ahmedabad. According to police, Kirit is seen in CCTV footage walking alone towards the railway tracks shortly before the incident. Moments later, he allegedly jumped in front of an approaching train.

Officers from Khokhra police station reached the scene after receiving a call from railway officials and recovered a handwritten note, purportedly written by the deceased. In the note, Kirit reportedly mentioned that ongoing monetary disputes had pushed him into severe distress.

He also levelled allegations against Rashmitsinh Gurudatt and Hardik Patel of Wide Angle, claiming that pressures arising out of financial dealings with them had left him feeling helpless.

Police said the authenticity of the note is being verified and statements of the persons named will be recorded as part of the inquiry.

“Based on the initial information, an accidental death report has been registered. We are examining CCTV footage and will question those named in the written and voice note,” a senior police officer said, adding that no FIR has been lodged yet.

The body has been sent for post-mortem at Civil Hospital, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the sequence of events leading to the suicide.
