Young woman leaps from 9th floor of Surat cafe, dies

A 27-year-old physiotherapist died by suicide on Friday evening after jumping from the ninth floor of a commercial complex in Surat’s Sarthana area, triggering shock and panic in the locality.

Police said Radhika Kotadiya, a resident of Valak Patiya who ran her own private clinic, had visited the Atithi Commercial Complex near Sarthana Jakatnaka. She was sitting inside the “Chai Partner” café on the ninth floor when she suddenly stood up and leapt off before anyone could react.

Radhika suffered grievous injuries from the fall and was declared dead on the spot by the 108 emergency team. Large crowds gathered as news of the incident spread.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that Radhika had recently got engaged. The exact reason behind her drastic step remains unclear. Police have seized her mobile phone and are recording statements from family members as part of the ongoing investigation.
