Amedabad's record-breaking rainfall
Notably, Ahmedabad has recorded an average rainfall of 8 inches, which is 27% of the season’s average till June 28, marking the highest rainfall in 10 years.
Based on the 30-year average from 1995 to 2024, Ahmedabad typically receives about 32 inches of rainfall during the monsoon season each year. As of June 21 — that is, a week ago — the city had received around 16% of the seasonal rainfall. This means an additional 10% rainfall has occurred in just one week. Last year, by this time, Ahmedabad had received only about 5% of the seasonal rainfall. In comparison, the city has now received five times more rainfall than last year.
