Woman's ex boyfriend stabs her husband multiple times near Jagatpur in Ahmedabad

A 25-year-old woman’s husband was allegedly stabbed multiple times by her former boyfriend in Ahmedabad's Chandkheda area. The incident happened when the couple were seated in their car near Jagatpur on Friday evening.

Janvi Patel, a resident of Vaishnodevi area, in her complaint at Chandkheda Police Station stated that she and her husband Sharad Patel, who works as a project manager with a construction company in Vyaswadi, had been living in Ahmedabad for the past ten days.

On Thursday, around 4 pm, Janvi said, her husband received a phone call from their builder, Kashyap Patel, who informed them that one Subhash Patel was present at the site of their newly purchased flat in Sunrise Homes, Jagatpur, and wanted to discuss some issues regarding the property. Kashyap reportedly asked both of them to come to the site.

The couple then drove to Sunrise Homes and, around 5 pm, stopped their car near a cigarette shop under the Jagatpur bridge, opposite the society gate. As they waited in their car, Subhash Patel, identified as Janvi’s former boyfriend and a resident of Himmatnagar, allegedly entered the back seat of their car from behind the driver’s seat.

As per the complaint, Subhash suddenly took out a knife and attacked her husband Sharad, stabbing him on the left hand, right side of the neck, near the right eye, jawline and upper back. When Janvi tried to intervene, she too sustained minor injuries on her face. “He kept shouting and stabbed my husband repeatedly. When people started to gather, Subhash fled from the spot.”

Janvi immediately drove her injured husband to Zydus Hospital for treatment. Doctors reportedly administered around 71 stitches for multiple stab wounds. Sharad was said to be fully conscious and was later discharged after treatment.

Police have registered a case against Subhash Lalbhai Patel, a resident of Himmatnagar, under Sections of BNS. Chandkheda Police has taken up the investigation. Officials said that efforts are underway to trace and arrest the accused, who fled the scene immediately after the assault.

Police sources said preliminary findings suggest that the accused had a prior relationship with the complainant and may have attacked out of jealousy and resentment over her marriage.
