A woman in a psychology institute in Kolkata regained consciousness after 11 years, surprisingly with intact memories about her family in Gujarat, media reported.

It was in 2003 when Geeta Baria, originally a resident of a village near Godhra in Gujarat, went missing from a wedding. The family had lost all hopes of her being alive, suggested media reports.

However, a phone call from Kolkata’s Pavlov Institute, informing about Baria regaining consciousness over 1800 km away, was received by the Panchmahal Police in Gujarat on Feb 10.

According to the media, the Panchmahal police are helping Baria’s family travel to Kolkata to bring her back to her hometown. The family will travel to Kolkata on Feb 15.

As soon as Baria regained consciousness, a video call was made connecting her to her family, reported the media. The police have already verified the details with Baria and her family.

Once the formalities are completed, Baria would be able to return to her hometown, 11 years later.
