Woman taken to hospital in JCB amid flood in Amreli, 50 farm labourers rescued

Unseasonal rains have lashed Gujarat over the past two days, causing widespread disruption across several districts. Rajula in Amreli recorded nearly six inches of rainfall, leading to severe flooding in many areas and cutting off road connectivity.
The sudden rise in water levels of the Dhatarwadi river created flood-like conditions in several villages, leaving residents stranded and rescue operations underway.
In one such incident from Rajula’s rural area, a pregnant woman went into labor amid rising floodwaters. With no vehicle able to navigate the submerged roads, locals were left with no choice but to transport her using a JCB machine.
The woman was carefully lifted and taken through the flooded stretch to the hospital. Thanks to the timely effort of villagers, she was safely admitted and successfully delivered her baby.
Meanwhile, in Kedsama village of Amreli, around 50 farm labourers were trapped in the fields after floodwater from the Dhatarwadi river surged into low-lying areas.
Upon receiving information, MLA Hira Solanki personally waded through the flooded river, coordinating rescue efforts alongside the Pipavav Marine Police. The team managed to reach the stranded workers and safely evacuate all of them to higher ground.
Authorities have urged residents in low-lying areas to remain alert as the situation is being closely monitored.
