A 35-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed in the head while attempting to resolve an argument involving her young son in Ahmedabad’s Ambawadi area on Thursday, according to Ellisbridge police.

Kamlaben Marwadi, a resident of Ambawadi, stated that the incident occurred at around 1.15 pm near the entrance of the Ganeshnagar residential colony.

Kamlaben was at home when her 11-year-old son, Amit, had gone out for a bicycle ride in the locality. Two youths later informed her that Amit had accidentally run over a woman's foot with his bicycle and had become involved in an argument.

Concerned, Kamlaben went to the gate of Ganeshnagar, where she found Amit standing with his bicycle. After speaking to him, she instructed him to return home while she remained near the gate.

A short while later, two young men allegedly approached her asking about Amit. Kamlaben told them that her son was a child and had accidentally struck the woman with his bicycle. However, the two men allegedly began abusing her.

One of the accused then pulled out a knife and allegedly attempted to attack her. Kamlaben reportedly ducked, but the weapon struck the left side of her head, causing a bleeding injury.

Hearing her cries for help, local residents rushed to the spot, following which the two assailants fled. The injured woman was taken to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital's Trauma Centre by a 108 ambulance, accompanied by neighbours. She remains under treatment and was reported to be conscious when her statement was recorded.

Police have identified the accused as Krishna Thakor and Gopi Thakor, residents of the same locality. A case has been registered against them, and further investigation is underway.

Police said statements of witnesses, including local residents who assisted the victim after the attack, are being recorded as part of the probe.
