Woman posing as customer arrested for jewellery thefts across four Gujarat cities

The Ahmedabad Rural Local Crime Branch (LCB) has arrested a woman accused of stealing gold jewellery from multiple jewellers across Gujarat by posing as a customer. With her arrest from Vadodara, police have solved four separate theft cases reported in different cities.
According to police, the accused, identified as Praveenaben alias Tiny Senwa, had recently visited a jewellery shop in Bavla pretending to be a customer. While the staff were busy displaying ornaments, she allegedly distracted them and stole gold rings before leaving the shop unnoticed.
Following a complaint, a special team was formed under the supervision of Ahmedabad Rural LCB PI R N Karamtiya. Using CCTV footage and intelligence gathered through local sources, the team tracked down and arrested the accused from Vadodara after a carefully planned surveillance operation.
During interrogation, the woman reportedly confessed to carrying out similar thefts at jewellery shops in Dhrangadhra, Vijapur, and Visnagar using the same way. Police said she would enter stores as a customer, engage staff in conversation and steal jewellery when they were distracted.
Investigators also discovered that the accused had been absconding in connection with a theft case registered at Ramol Police Station in Ahmedabad city.
The LCB has taken the woman into custody and is continuing its investigation. Efforts are underway to recover stolen valuables and determine whether she was involved in any other unsolved theft cases.
