A 31-year-old woman and her 7-year-old daughter died on Thursday evening after reportedly jumping into the Sabarmati River near Chandranagar. The Sabarmati Riverfront West Police have registered a case and initiated further investigation.
The deceased have been identified as Bhumi Dhaval Patel (31) and her daughter Dhviti (7), residents of Vejalpur.
Officials said that SVP Hospital informed the police station officer at Riverfront West that around 7 pm on November 7, two patients, a woman and a child, had been brought in by 108 emergency services after their bodies were fished out by fire brigade personnel from the river near Chandranagar.
Doctors at the hospital had examined the two and declared Bhumiben dead at 5.47 pm, while her daughter was declared dead at 5.45 pm. During preliminary inquiry, police established the identity of the deceased and contacted their families. Investigators recorded statements of Bhumiben’s parents, who informed officers that she had married Dhaval Pareshbhai Patel in 2015 and the couple had one daughter, Dhviti.
