Woman injured in knife attack by unidentified youth in Ahmedabad

A woman was injured after an unidentified youth attacked her with a knife near Raja Rahim Tekra in Behrampura on Wednesday, police said.

According to preliminary information, the woman had gone to Raja Bakery to make a purchase when the incident occurred. The assailant allegedly initiated a brief conversation with her and, without any apparent provocation, suddenly pulled out a knife and attacked her before fleeing the spot.

The woman raised an alarm, prompting the attacker to escape. She sustained injuries to her hand in the assault and was later taken for medical treatment. Her condition is stated to be stable.

Police said CCTV footage from the area has captured the incident, and the visuals have since gone viral on social media. The footage is being analysed to identify and trace the accused.

A police officer said teams have been deployed to scan CCTV cameras in the vicinity and question local residents and shopkeepers. “An investigation has been initiated, and efforts are on to identify the attacker and ascertain the motive behind the assault,” the officer said.

No arrests had been made till now.
