The Aslali police on Wednesday arrested a woman from Chamanpura Bareja in Daskroi taluka for allegedly storing and selling cannabis from her rented home, officials said.

Acting on a tip-off, a team raided the house near Prakash High School in Bareja and recovered 4.012 kg of herbal cannabis, worth around ₹40,120, stored without any permit. An FSL team was called to the spot, and a field test confirmed the substance to be cannabis.

The arrested accused has been identified as Madhuben Punambhai Chunara, a resident of the locality. Police said she was allegedly selling the contraband in small quantities. A case has been registered against her under the provisions of the NDPS Act.

According to police, a rickshaw driver who is believed to have supplied the consignment is currently wanted. Efforts are on to trace him.

Aslali Police inspector N H Savseta said, “During preliminary investigation, it was found that the woman accused had procured the contraband from an auto driver, whom we have already identified and soon will be nabbed.”

Police said further investigation is underway to identify the supply chain and other persons involved.
