Woman fatally stabbed in Ahmedabad, husband alleges prolonged harassment by attacker

On the evening of May 27, a woman was fatally stabbed at her residence in Vastral, allegedly by Ashok Mansukhbhai Patel and an unidentified accomplice.
According to the first information report (FIR) filed by her husband, Chandrakantbhai alias Chiragbhai Prajapati, Ashok Patel had been allegedly harassing his wife for several years, forcibly seeking to establish a relationship with her.
The complainant recounted that despite repeated police complaints and efforts to distance his family from Patel, the accused continued to pursue and threaten his wife.
On the day of the incident, Ashok Patel, accompanied by an unidentified man, allegedly entered the couple’s home around 8 pm.
Following an argument, Patel reportedly stabbed Ankitaben multiple times in the stomach and body, inflicting fatal injuries. A witness account from the complainant’s mother, Bharatiben, and their minor daughter, Aastha, corroborated the sequence of events, stating that Ashok Patel and his associate fled the scene on a motorcycle after the attack.
The complainant stated that before the incident, he had received a phone call from his wife, expressing fear after Ashok Patel’s mother allegedly summoned her to meet. Later that evening, Chandrakantbhai’s neighbours alerted him to the attack at his home.
Ankitaben, who previously assisted her husband in his small garage business by sewing garments at home, had reportedly been targeted by Ashok Patel since 2017, according to the complaint. Her husband alleged that despite relocating twice to avoid Ashok Patel’s advances, the harassment persisted, culminating in this fatal attack.
Police said a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and further investigation is underway. The senior police inspector of the Ramol Police Station, V D Mori, confirmed that “ the FIR was recorded as per the complainant’s written statement, and we have apprehended the accused right now. Exact details will be revealed during the interrogation.”
