Woman caught with 20 kg of marijuana worth ₹10 lakh in Ahmedabad

The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Ahmedabad City Crime Branch has arrested a 25-year-old woman and seized 20 kg of illegal marijuana valued at ₹10.05 lakh from the Chharanagar area of the city.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a SOG team conducted a raid on January 17. The operation was carried out at Sardarnagar’s Chharanagar area, behind Kali Mati, at Rajdhani Gali.
During the raid, police recovered 20 kg of ganja from the porch of the accused’s house. The accused was identified as Geetaben, wife of Vitthalbhai Minekar (Chhara), a resident of Rajdhani Gali, Chharanagar. She works as a daily-wage labourer.
A case has been registered against her under sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for possession and conspiracy related to commercial quantities of narcotics. She was arrested on the spot, and further investigation is ongoing.
Police said preliminary investigation revealed that the accused, along with other relatives, allegedly brought consignments of marijuana to her residence and planned to sell them locally. The contraband was packed in parcels of approximately two kilograms each, intended for retail distribution.
Officials said efforts are underway to identify and apprehend other persons linked to the supply chain. The police reiterated that strict action will continue against drug networks operating within Ahmedabad city.
