A woman was booked for allegedly assaulting and obstructing police personnel at the Sardarnagar Police Station on Monday afternoon, leaving three staff members injured, police said.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at the police station on January 5, 2026, the incident occurred between 4.20 pm and 4.45 pm when Mehak, daughter of Babita alias Sonika Tamachena, allegedly created a ruckus inside the police station premises during a visit to meet her detained mother.

The complaint has been filed by Pujaben Kalabhai Patel, a woman police constable posted at Sardarnagar Police Station, who stated that she has been serving with the city police for the past seven years.

As per the complaint, Babita alias Sonika, who was in custody in connection with another offence, was visited by her daughters, Mehak and Sanjana. The visitors were permitted, on humanitarian grounds, to provide warm bedding to their mother due to winter conditions.

During the checking process, police personnel allegedly noticed that Mehak was secretly placing pan masala and gutka inside the bedding meant for her mother. When the act was objected and she was instructed not to pass prohibited substances to the detainee, Mehak allegedly became aggressive, hurled abuses and stormed out of the area.

A short while later, she allegedly entered the duty area of the police station, shouted at officers and suddenly grabbed Constable Pujaben Patel by the hair, pulling and abusing her, the FIR states.

When women police personnel rushed to intervene and rescue their colleague, Mehak allegedly turned violent and bit a woman constable, Vandanaben, on her fingers, injuring Kinjalben with her nails and also causing injuries to PSO Govindbhai on the neck.

The FIR notes that several women police staff members witnessed the incident and attempted to restrain the accused. Mehak was eventually escorted out of the premises by her younger sister, but not before allegedly issuing threats to implicate the police staff in false cases.

Police said a case has been registered against Mehak for assaulting public servants, obstructing them from performing official duty, causing hurt and criminal intimidation.

An investigation has been initiated, and statements of witnesses present at the police station at the time of the incident are being recorded, officials said.
