In a disturbing case reported from Ahmedabad, a 28-year-old woman from a Scheduled Caste has lodged a formal complaint with the Amraiwadi Police, alleging deception, sexual exploitation, intimidation, and caste-based harassment by a man who allegedly concealed his religious identity and coerced her into a relationship.

The FIR was registered on July 24, 2025. The woman, Rekha (name changed), a resident of Amraiwadi, Ahmedabad, alleged that she was manipulated into a relationship by one Sabab Rasidbhai Sheikh, a resident of Nawabnagar, who initially introduced himself as a Home Guard named ‘Satish’.

The complainant claimed the accused approached her in 2021 near the LG Bridge when she was commuting to her computer classes. She stated that after being stopped by police personnel for a routine check, she was contacted by the accused on her mobile the same evening. He introduced himself as a police home guard and offered assistance if needed.

Over time, the woman said, the accused began visiting her classes and developed a friendship with her, which later turned into a romantic relationship. During this period, the accused allegedly took her to a hotel near Maninagar where, despite her initial refusal, he established physical relations with her under the pretext of marriage.

The situation escalated when, months into their association, the woman discovered through his nameplate that the man was Sabab Rasidbhai Sheikh, contrary to his earlier claim. When confronted, he admitted to concealing his religion, stating that she would not have continued the relationship had she known the truth.

Despite ending the relationship after learning about his actual identity, the woman alleged that Sabab repeatedly harassed her, stalked her, and manipulated her into rekindling contact by threatening harm to her and her eight-year-old son from a previous marriage.

She further claimed that Sabab's interference led to the breakdown of her second marriage to a man from Surat within two months. Even after this, she stated, he forced her to resume cohabitation, threatening her with dire consequences if she refused.

According to the complaint, Sabab insisted that she convert to Islam and adopt the name ‘Afsana’, repeatedly pressuring her both emotionally and physically.

Eventually, she moved back to her parents’ home, but alleged that the harassment continued. The situation came to a head on the night of July 23, 2025, when the accused allegedly attempted to force her into his vehicle, molested her in the car, and fled when her family arrived.

Based on her detailed statement, Amraiwadi Police have registered an FIR under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), 2023 and additionally, charges under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Senior officials of Amraiwadi Police Station confirmed that a complaint has been received and a full investigation is underway. The accused remains at large as of now.
