Woman alleges assault by Vastrapur spa manager, colleague and owner

A 22-year-old woman has filed a detailed complaint with the Vastrapur police, alleging repeated sexual assault and harassment by her former employer and his associate over a period of two months at a spa near Vastrapur Lake in Ahmedabad. The woman also accused another man of issuing threats of gang rape.
As per the FIR filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the woman, a housekeeper by profession and a resident of Bopal, alleged that she was repeatedly raped between January 10 and March 8, 2025, by Rohit Umeshbhai Tiwari, the then-manager of the Kama Thai Spa situated at Amrapali Complex near Vastrapur Lake. The accused, she claimed, forced himself on her multiple times in Room No. 07 of the spa premises.
The complainant, who belongs to a Scheduled Caste community, stated that she was working as a housekeeper at the spa when the incident first occurred. She alleged that Tiwari called her to a room under the pretext of offering her a job and told her that she would have to engage in sexual relations with him and the spa owner, Chintan Nileshbhai Pandya, to retain her employment.
When she refused, Rohit forcibly undressed and raped her as she stated in the complaint.
She further alleged that on February 10, 2025, Pandya too raped her in the same room after deceptively summoning her upstairs for a conversation. Despite expressing that she did not offer massage services, she was coerced into providing one and was subsequently assaulted.
She also named a third individual, Sawanbhai Mansukhbhai Purbiya, a resident of Surendranagar, who allegedly threatened her with gang rape when she attempted to confront Tiwari over repayment of ₹1.45 lakh she had loaned him.
The woman stated that the trauma affected her physical and mental health, and she was admitted to Sanjeevani Hospital in Vastrapur for four days in April. After recovering, she returned to her hometown, but did not disclose the incidents to hospital authorities. She came back to Ahmedabad in June and, after confiding in friends, decided to approach the police.
Based on her statement, the Vastrapur police have registered an FIR against Rohit Tiwari, Chintan Pandya, and Sawanbhai Purbiya under charges of rape, criminal intimidation, and other offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
A senior police official confirmed that the case was under investigation and statements of key witnesses were being recorded. The spa premises are also likely to be inspected, and CCTV footage, if available, will be examined.
Further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
