Woman alleges assault and death threats following dispute at Shela housing society in Ahmedabad

A 30-year-old woman residing in a housing society in Shela, Ahmedabad has lodged a police complaint alleging that she was assaulted, abused and threatened by three residents following a dispute involving children at the society’s play area.
According to Bopal police, the incident took place on the evening of May 22 at a residential at Shilp Revanta located in Shela.
The complainant, Monica Sahil Dilip Jat, originally from Rajasthan and currently residing in Shela with her family, stated that she had gone to the society’s play area with her daughter when an argument broke out between children over a swing.
Monica alleged that a girl identified as attempted to push her daughter away from the swing despite the latter already waiting for her turn. Monica claimed she intervened and explained the situation to the child before leaving the area with her daughter.
However, at around 7.45 pm, when they returned to the play area, girl's mother Krishnaben, along with Ishaben and Kevalbhai, allegedly confronted her over the earlier exchange. The complainant alleged that the trio verbally abused her in public before physically assaulting her.
Krishnaben allegedly pulled Monica’s hair and slapped her, causing injuries to her nose, while the others also joined in the assault. Monica further alleged that during the scuffle her clothes were torn near the neck and her gold chain went missing.
She stated that several residents gathered at the scene and her husband intervened to stop the altercation. The accused allegedly also threatened to kill her if she spoke to her daughter again.
The complainant has informed police that CCTV footage from the society premises could help establish the sequence of events.
Bopal police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
