Wanted accused in 412-gram mephedrone seizure worth ₹12.36 lakh arrested from Rajasthan

The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has arrested a wanted accused from Rajasthan in connection with a narcotics case involving the seizure of 412 grams of mephedrone worth ₹12.36 lakh earlier this year.
Police said the accused, Rajuram Harigaram Bishnoi, was apprehended from Sanchor in Rajasthan’s Jalore district in connection with a case registered at the DCB Police Station, Ahmedabad, under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to the Crime Branch, on April 13, officers acting on specific intelligence carried out a raid at a shop named Ganesh Selection, opposite Navtad Pol under Laxmi Market in Ahmedabad’s Gheekanta area.
During the operation, police allegedly recovered 412 grams of mephedrone, a prohibited synthetic narcotic substance, valued at approximately ₹12.36 lakh from the possession of two accused, Malaram Magaram Devasi and Ashokkumar Jalabhai Darji.
Following the seizure, the DCB Police Station registered a case under sections of the NDPS Act.
During the course of investigation, police identified Rajuram Bishnoi, a resident of Danta (Bavali) village in Sanchor taluka of Rajasthan, as an alleged associate linked to the narcotics network.
Crime Branch officials said a special team tracked the accused to Rajasthan and arrested him from his native village before bringing him to Ahmedabad for legal proceedings.
Police further stated that Bishnoi was also wanted in a separate NDPS case registered at Abu Road Rico Police Station under NDPS Act.
Investigators said the accused has a criminal history involving multiple offences registered in Rajasthan, including cases under the NDPS Act and theft charges under the Indian Penal Code.
According to police records, previous cases against the accused include offences registered at Industrial Area Police Station in Pali and multiple NDPS cases registered at Sanchor and Karada Police Stations in Rajasthan between 2019 and 2022.
Officials said further investigation is under way to trace the broader narcotics supply network and identify additional persons involved in the illegal drug trade.
