Continuous rainfall since Saturday night brought Ahmedabad to a standstill on Sunday, leading to waterlogging in several areas and the collapse of a construction site wall near Saraswati Hospital in Bopal.

The boundary wall adjacent to the Saraswati hospital collapsed on Sunday morning due to the heavy downpour, causing three construction vehicles parked nearby to fall into the gorge created by the collapse. Fortunately, no injuries were reported on the site.

The intermittent showers from Saturday cooled the city’s weather but also caused inconvenience for devotees, as heavy clouds and afternoon downpours coincided with Ganesh Visarjan processions.

Several immersion routes in Thaltej, Memnagar, Sardar Nagar, and Hanspura areas witnessed waterlogging, forcing devotees to wade through ankle-deep water to reach nearby immersion ponds.

Despite the disruption, civic officials confirmed there were no casualties and that emergency teams were on standby to handle any further incidents.
