VUDA Circle Accident Leaves Motorcycle Rider Seriously Injured in Vadodara

A motorcycle rider was seriously injured after coming under a city bus near VUDA Circle in Vadodara, with his leg crushed under the vehicle’s rear wheel.

A large crowd gathered at the spot after the accident, while the injured man’s family rushed there after receiving the information. Police also reached the scene and social workers helped shift the victim to a hospital.

Passengers allege driver was using phone

Following the accident, some passengers accused the bus driver of playing songs while driving and repeatedly talking on a mobile phone.

The driver denied using his phone while the bus was moving. A social worker confronted and reprimanded him, saying mobile phone use while driving puts passengers and other road users at risk.

Police have started an investigation into the accident.

Residents demand action on heavy vehicles

The accident has once again raised concerns over the movement of heavy vehicles on Vadodara roads. Residents have alleged that dumpers, city buses and other heavy vehicles continue to pose a risk to road users.

Citizens are demanding clear rules for the movement of heavy vehicles and strict enforcement, particularly during restricted hours. They have also called for proactive traffic management rather than action only after serious accidents.

Questions raised over traffic policing

Residents have also raised concerns over the lack of visible traffic police presence in several parts of the city. Wrong-side driving and haphazard parking are among the issues reportedly adding to traffic risks.

Roadside vendors, stalls and vehicles parked outside shops are also narrowing roads in several areas, increasing the possibility of accidents.

The concerns come after a recent fatal accident involving a young woman in Tandalja, following which authorities launched a drive against encroachments. Residents have questioned whether such action should come only after serious accidents occur.
