Violent clash between two groups in Ahmedabad's Nandej-Barejadi village, 27 booked

A dispute over parking escalated into a violent clash between two groups belonging to the same community in Nandej-Barejadi village, in Ahmedabad rural district, late on Sunday night. The altercation turned into a full-blown riot, leading to extensive damage to several vehicles, including cars, JCBs, dumpers, Eicher trucks, bikes, and rickshaws.
The incident occurred near the railway crossing where one group objected to a four-wheeler parked in a manner that obstructed traffic on the main road. What started as a heated argument quickly spiralled out of control as both factions gathered in large numbers, resulting in stone pelting and vandalism.
On receiving information, Vivekanandnagar police rushed to the spot and, anticipating further escalation, called in additional police force to bring the situation under control. The police have since registered a case of rioting against 27 identified individuals and detained seven of them for questioning.
In view of the heightened tensions, the police have imposed strict security measures in the Nandej-Barejadi area. Patrolling has been intensified, and heavy police deployment has been put in place to prevent any untoward incident.
Several residents, fearing further violence, have reportedly locked their houses and moved to safer locations. However, Vivekanandnagar police have assured that the situation is currently under control and efforts are ongoing to restore normalcy in the area.
