Addressing the Vibrant Summit on day one, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman gave an ambitious roadmap of Indian economy moving further. She said, “India will become the world’s third-largest economy by 2027-28, with its GDP surpassing $5 tn (₹415.09 lakh cr) during that period.”
The estimate that India will be at least a $30 trillion economy by 2047 is a conservative estimate, the finance minister added.
“We are not only aiming to become a $30 trillion economy by 2047, but also aim to ensure inclusive growth,” she explained. She also focused on India’s growing foreign direct investment.
Adding to a number of foreign investment prospectus, DP World chairman and entrepreneur Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem said that their plan to invest and develop state-of-the-art container terminals at Kandla, Gujarat with a capacity of 20 lakh containers.
Later in the day, the Global FinTech Forum was held at the GIFT City, which was described as ‘convergence of brilliant minds in finance & technology’ by PM Narendra Modi, who also attended it.
