Amidst the heightened extortion by cops in Gujarat, Valsad police suspended three cops for their negligence on duty.

Vapi town police sub-inspector VA Vasava and Chala outpost’s assistant sub-inspector Mayuri Boras, along with writer Karansinh, were suspended by Valsad police.

PI Vasava was suspended for his negligence in a violence case registered in Vapi's Sulpad.

On the other hand, ASI Boras and writer Karansinh were suspended for extorting non-resident Indians (NRIs) who carried liquor bottles in their cars.

In Nov 2023, ASI Boras and Karansinh stopped the car of an NRI family, and on searching their car, liquor bottles were found. The duo allegedly tried to extort money from them and misbehaved with the family.

The family then complained against the cops.

The duo allegedly used to target Surat and Maharashtra passing cars coming from Daman.

Disregarding the Gujarat Prohibition Act, ASI Boras and writers used to carry out their illegal business in a number-less, black-coated window car.

In cases of possession of liquor in passing cars, the duo used to settle it after extorting money. If the victims refused to settle it with money, then the duo used to register a case against them.
