Vadodara woman BLO officer breaks down on call, says on brink of self-harm

A woman Booth Level Officer (BLO) in Vadodara has sparked concern after an audio clip of her breaking down in tears went viral. In the call, the woman is heard pleading for timely return of voter verification forms and saying that the mounting pressure had pushed her to the brink of suicide.

According to details, the BLO had contacted a society leader to request the return of forms distributed for verification.

The leader reportedly told her that residents were not taking the matter seriously. Overwhelmed by repeated delays and official pressure, the woman began sobbing uncontrollably, saying she had been working day and night, unable to sleep, and feared she would be forced to take an extreme step if the forms were not returned on time.

She claimed she had even submitted her resignation due to the workload, but it had not been accepted. She also alleged that any complaint against her invited threats of legal action, leaving her no choice but to continue working under intense stress.

The society leader later attempted to reassure her, urging her not to harm herself.

Election-related duties in Gujarat have sparked broader concerns, with sources claiming that around six BLOs have suffered heart attacks in recent months, while several senior BLOs have reported deteriorating health due to excessive workload and stress.
