Vadodara Drunk-Driving Crash: Car Hits Tractor Near Lal Baug Bridge

A car allegedly being driven at high speed by a drunk driver crashed into a Vadodara Municipal Corporation tractor near Lal Baug Bridge on Wednesday night, prompting police action.

The accident occurred around 10 pm near Royal Mela, where the speeding car collided with the tractor. A crowd gathered at the spot, but no one was injured.

The car driver was identified as Jaydeep Nikhil Sengupta, a resident of Shubham Elite on Harni-Motanath Mahadev Road. Police said he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Raopura Police registered a case under the Motor Vehicles Act and Prohibition Act and seized the car, valued at around ₹1.35 lakh.

Second drunk-driving case in two days

The incident comes two days after a video allegedly showing an Eeco driver driving under the influence near Mandvi Gate went viral.

The two incidents have raised concerns over drunk driving, road safety and enforcement of prohibition laws in Vadodara.

Villagers block road after Maneja accident

Meanwhile, another accident involving a trailer and a car was reported in Maneja village on Wednesday night.

Villagers said heavy vehicles frequently cause accidents in the area. Around 20 days ago, a local youth was seriously injured in an accident and remains under treatment.

On Wednesday, a trailer again hit a parked car, leading angry residents to block the road. They demanded that company vehicles be parked inside company premises and that heavy vehicle movement through the village be regulated.

Residents said they have been demanding a speed breaker since 2014, but their request has not been addressed. They warned of protests at the company premises if their demands are not met.
