Vadodara advocate Nimisha Dhotre scripts historic win in Gujarat Bar Council elections

Advocate Nimisha Dhotre has secured a historic victory in the Bar Council of Gujarat elections, emerging as the first woman to win the election among 99 contestants across the state.

The elections, held on March 6, saw participation from over 45,000 lawyers across Gujarat. A total of 23 members were elected to the Bar Council, including five seats reserved for women.

From Vadodara, nine candidates—including three women—were in the fray. These included Sheetal Upadhyay, Nimisha Dhotre Patel, Rashid Vhora, Nalin Patel, Vikram Padhiyar, Yunuskhan Pathan, Jagat Desai, Ranjit Rathod and Anisha Saiyed.

At the Divalipura court polling centre, 2,723 lawyers cast their votes.

Dhotre secured 2,128.87 votes, surpassing the required quota of 1,928.59. Notably, this is the first time in the history of the Bar Council of Gujarat that a woman candidate has crossed the quota mark, making her win significant.

Following her victory, Dhotre expressed gratitude to lawyers across Gujarat for their support.
