North Gujarat experienced unseasonal rainfall on Saturday morning, bringing a sudden change in weather across Mehsana, Unjha, and Palanpur regions. Light winter chill gave way to cool, damp air as heavy rains lashed Unjha Bahucharaji, where 1 to 1.5 inches of rain were recorded creating a monsoon-like atmosphere in the month of Kartak.

Waterlogging was reported in several low-lying areas, including the Unjha railway underpass, causing difficulties for motorists. Similar conditions were observed in Mehsana and nearby areas.

Farmers have expressed concern over possible damage to standing crops such as cotton, castor, pulses, and sorghum due to the unseasonal showers.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), weather systems developing over the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are likely to bring unseasonal rain to several parts of Gujarat between October 25 and 27.

A yellow alert has been issued for Valsad, Navsari, Dang, Surat, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Gir Somnath, and Diu for Saturday. The rainfall activity is expected to expand to Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Junagadh, Porbandar, and other districts over the next two days, with heavy rain predicted in parts of Saurashtra and North Gujarat.
