Unseasonal rains relief package: 33 lakh farmers' applications received, 6 lakh still pending

Unseasonal rains have caused damage to crops across 42 lakh hectares in Gujarat, prompting the state government to announce an agricultural relief package worth ₹10,000 crore.
Around 33 lakh farmers applied for assistance under the scheme, while nearly 6 lakh applications are still pending.
The relief package has led to differences among farmers. Several farmers have complained that the compensation received is inadequate compared to the extent of crop damage.
While thousands of farmers have expressed dissatisfaction with the government, a group of supporting farmers on Sunday praised the state government and thanked it for announcing the relief package.
The government maintains that it has approved 27 lakh applications so far, and financial assistance has already been disbursed to 22.90 lakh farmers.
However, nearly five lakh farmers are still awaiting compensation. So far, ₹5,300 crore has been distributed, but farmer leaders claim that more than ₹2,000 crore may remain unutilised.
The government has not yet clarified how many of the pending applications have been rejected.
