Unruly men brandish sticks in Vatva amid police presence, trigger panic among residents

Tension gripped Ahmedabad’s Vatva area after a group of alleged anti-social elements was seen openly brandishing sticks and engaging in hooliganism near Karnavati Chowki, reportedly in the presence of police personnel.

According to local residents, the incident occurred in the vicinity of the police outpost, where several men allegedly created a public disturbance and were seen wielding sticks in a threatening manner, causing alarm among passers-by and nearby shopkeepers.

Police personnel attached to a 112 PCR van intervened and managed to defuse the situation before it escalated further, witnesses said.

The incident has sparked concern among residents of the area, many of whom questioned the prevailing law-and-order situation and expressed apprehension over public safety, particularly as the alleged intimidation took place despite police presence nearby.

Residents said the episode created an atmosphere of fear in the neighbourhood and disrupted normal activity in the locality for some time.

Videos of the incident captured on CCTV and mobile phones have since surfaced on social media, drawing widespread attention and prompting calls for stringent action against those involved.

Locals have demanded that the Ahmedabad Police take strict legal action against the alleged troublemakers and increase patrolling in the area to prevent recurrence of such incidents.

Police are going to examine the CCTV footage and identifying the individuals involved. Further investigation is underway.
