Unidentified man’s body recovered from Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad, police await identification

The body of an unidentified man, believed to be between 35 and 40 years of age, was recovered from the Sabarmati River on Friday morning, police said.

According to officials, the body was found at around 10 am on June 12 in the stretch of the river between Sardar Bridge and Ambedkar Bridge. Following the recovery, police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.

After completion of the post-mortem procedure, the body was preserved in the hospital's cold storage facility while efforts continue to identify the deceased and trace his relatives.

Police said the deceased had no visible external injuries on his body. Preliminary inquiries have not revealed any indications of foul play or criminal involvement in the death.

A case of accidental death has been registered at Sabarmati Riverfront West Police Station under Accidental Death, and further investigation is underway.

Officials have appealed to the public to come forward with any information that could help establish the identity of the deceased and assist in locating his family members.
