Under-construction building wall collapses in Gandhinagar, one dead, two injured

A wall of an under-construction building named Shreeji Irish collapsed in Gandhinagar, trapping three workers under the debris.
According to initial reports, one worker has died, while two others sustained injuries. The deceased has been identified as Ajay Parmar, a resident of Dungarpur, Rajasthan. The injured workers have been identified as Natwar Damor and Chirag Damor, both of whom are also natives of Dungarpur.
With the onset of the monsoon season in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, several roads have been waterlogged and incidents of building collapses are being reported due to persistent heavy rainfall.
On Tuesday, a portion of a dilapidated three-storey building collapsed in Dharmi Society, located near Modini Chali and Mahakali Mandir in the Dudheshwar area of Shahibaug, Ahmedabad. The Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) responded swiftly, rescuing 16 people from the site.
Precautionary measures ahead of rathyatra
In light of the upcoming rathyatra scheduled for June 27, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has initiated precautionary measures to avoid further mishaps. A total of 513 notices have been issued to occupants of dangerous and dilapidated buildings along the rathyatra route.
The Estate Department of AMC conducted a detailed survey of structurally unsafe buildings in areas like Khadia, Jamalpur, Shahpur, Dariyapur, and parts of Sarangpur, urging residents to vacate the premises ahead of the religious procession.
