Two youths arrested for throwing eggs at Ganesh idol, paraded by police

Vadodara police on Wednesday arrested two youths for allegedly throwing eggs at a Ganesh idol during preparations at the Manjalpur Ganesh Mandal. The incident occurred around 2.30 am in the Panigate Madar Market area, where the idol was about to be installed.

According to witnesses, a group of about 10 to 15 people was peacefully carrying the idol when miscreants hurled eggs at it. Eyewitnesses further reported that lights of the buildings from where the eggs were thrown were immediately switched off, plunging the area into silence.

Police acted swiftly to maintain order and prevent any communal tension in the area and arrested the two individuals.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sufiyan Mansuri and Shah Nawaz. After their arrest, the police paraded the two in their locality with their hands tied with ropes. During the parade, both youths apologised for their actions.
