Two workers die after school parapet collapses during painting work in Dariyapur

In a tragic incident on Wednesday afternoon, two men lost their lives after a wall collapsed at the J P High School in the Dariyapur area, where painting work was underway.

According to police, the school had contracted Karimkhan Pathan, a resident of Dariyapur, was to carry out the painting job. One of the labourers hired for the task was Laxman Makwana, who hailed from Rajasthan.

Around 3.30 pm, both Karimkhan and Laxman had climbed onto the terrace of the high school building to inspect and discuss the ongoing paintwork. While they were leaning against a wall during the discussion, the structure suddenly gave way. The two were thrown to the ground and sustained critical injuries.

They were immediately rushed to the Asarwa Civil Hospital for treatment, but doctors declared both dead on arrival.

Following the incident, Dariyapur police registered a case of accidental death and have begun further investigation to ascertain whether any negligence contributed to the collapse. A forensic examination of the damaged structure is expected to follow.

The incident has raised concerns over safety measures at construction and maintenance sites, particularly in educational institutions.
