Two women die by suicide in Gujarat in two different incidents

Two separate incidents of suicide have come to light from Gujarat – in Junagadh and Surat. In Junagadh, a 20-year-old girl ended her life, while in Surat, a woman in her 30s allegedly took her own life due to harassment from her in-laws.
In Madhuram area of Junagadh, 20-year-old Laxmi Vegda, who lived with her family, died by suicide due to stress.
Before taking this extreme step, she recorded a heartbreaking video message in which she was seen crying and saying, “Brother, take care of mom, I’m leaving.” Later, she hanged herself with a dupatta in her house.
Preliminary information suggests that the girl was under stress and feared about her future, which may have driven her to take the drastic step. However, the police are investigating the exact cause of her suicide.
In another incident, a 30-year-old woman, Shilpa, who worked as an accountant, allegedly ended her life by hanging herself in her home in Surat’s Pal area.
Her family members have alleged mental harassment by her in-laws.
The police have sent her body for post-mortem and initiated an investigation to know the reason behind her suicide. The accusations made by her family will also be thoroughly investigated.
