Two who made obscene gestures at woman on Sabarmati Riverfront nabbed after her Insta post

Two persons were arrested after they tried to molest a woman and made obscene gestures at her on Sabarmati Riverfront on Friday. Soon after she posted her ordeal on social media, Ahmedabad Police acted promptly and nabbed the culprits on two-wheeler the same night. 

Following her post on Instagram, a police constable contacted Maitreyee Davda, who had recorded the two-wheeler details and time of the incident. 

DCP Zone-1 Safin Hassan was immediately informed, and within hours, the accused youth were nabbed.

In the video post on Instagram, the girl recorded the accused trying to molest her and making obscene gestures towards her. She had posted the video on her social media on the same night of the incident.

The post was seen by Police Constable Vikramsinh Parmar who immediately informed DCP Safin Hasan, in-charge of Zone-1, about the incident by getting in touch with Davda. 

DCP Hasan subsequently directed PSI H B Gadhvi who on the basis of CCTV footage and the video, nabbed the accused and handed them over to Riverfront West Police.

“Maitreyee Davda has shown great courage by posting the incident on social media. With such social media awareness, criminals can be caught,” said DCP Hasan.
