Two riders injured after Commonwealth Games banner collapses in Ahmedabad

Two commuters sustained minor injuries on Thursday afternoon after a large banner installed along the footpath near Sindhu Bhavan Road collapsed and fell onto an Activa scooter passing underneath.
According to officials, the flex banner — reportedly related to promotions for the Commonwealth Games — had been tied to poles along the pavement. Preliminary accounts suggest that the structure gave way due to loose fastening, causing the banner to topple onto the riders.
Both individuals suffered minor injuries and were given first aid at a nearby facility, police said.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has initiated an inquiry to determine who installed the banner and whether necessary permissions were obtained. Officials said action will be taken if any lapses in installation or violations of civic guidelines are found.
Civic teams later removed the fallen banner to prevent further obstruction or accidents. Police are also examining CCTV footage from the stretch to verify responsibility.
