Two PGVCL workers die by electrocution in Gondal

Two employees of Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (PGVCL) reportedly died after being electrocuted while working on a feeder near the sub-jail.

According to reports, PGVCL had been carrying out repair work on the Shrihari feeder for the past four days. Around 25 workers were engaged in the task when, suddenly, the power supply was switched on. As a result, two young employees — Bhagwansingh Ramlal Bhil (age 22) and Surajkumar Banesingh Bhil (age 20) — were electrocuted and died on the spot. A 108 emergency ambulance reached the site immediately upon being informed, but both young men had already succumbed to the electric shock. Their bodies have since been sent to the hospital for postmortem examination.

At the same time, it has raised serious concerns about the safety protocols for contract workers employed by the electricity company. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter.

More details are awaited
