A minor dispute over switching off a room light escalated into a violent clash between two neighbouring families in Ahmedabad’s Narol area, leading police to register cross complaints against six persons, including two women.

According to police, the incident took place on the night of May 13 in Gayatrinagar locality near Narol, where a 30-year-old woman resides with her husband and children.

Investigators said the woman and her husband were preparing for sleep when the light in one of their rooms was still switched on. At that time, a neighbour living adjacent to their house allegedly approached the couple and complained that the light was disturbing them while sleeping.

Police said the couple informed the neighbour that they would switch off the light shortly. However, what began as a routine exchange soon turned into a heated argument between the two sides.

The neighbour allegedly began quarrelling with the couple over the issue. When the woman attempted to pacify the matter and explain the situation to the neighbour, the argument intensified further.

Soon afterwards, members of both families allegedly came face-to-face and a physical altercation broke out between them. During the scuffle, both sides allegedly assaulted each other and sustained injuries.

Local residents later intervened and managed to calm the situation before it escalated further.

Police officials said that following complaints from both parties, Narol Police Station registered cross FIRs against six persons, including two women, and initiated legal proceedings.
