Two persons were killed after being run over by a train near a railway crossing close to the Naranpura Adarshnagar police outpost under the jurisdiction of Vadaj Police Station in Ahmedabad late on Tuesday night, officials said.

The accident occurred at a railway gate near the Adarshnagar police chowki in Naranpura when the victims reportedly came in the path of a moving train. According to the police, both men sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot.

One of the deceased has been identified as Satyajit Shrimali, a resident of Swatantra Senani Nagar in the city. The second victim, described as a young man, is yet to be formally identified. Police said efforts are under way to establish his identity and inform his family.

Officials from Vadaj Police Station reached the scene shortly after receiving information and initiated inquest proceedings. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.
