Gujarat reports another communal clash, now in Bharuch

After a stone-pelting incident at a Ganesh pandal in Surat, another communal clash was reported from Bharuch.

A late-night confrontation between two communities has been reported in Bharuch’s Kukarwada.

According to reports, the unrest occurred amidst preparations for the upcoming celebrations of two major festivals simultaneously.

The incident occurred near Gokul Nagar in Kukarwada, under the jurisdiction of the B Division police station, where the issue escalated while people from the two communities were attempting to put up flags for their respective religious festivals. 

During this time, incidents of heavy stone-pelting and vandalism occurred. It has been reported that two people were injured in the clash.

Upon receiving the information, Superintendent of Police (SP) Mayur Chavda and the entire police force rushed to the scene, bringing the situation under control.

An FIR was filed against 20 people out of which 17 people from a community were detained.

To prevent any further incidents, a tight security arrangement has been made, and a large number of police officers have been deployed. Currently, efforts are underway to trace the remaining culprits with the help of CCTV footage.
