The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Ahmedabad City Police on Saturday arrested two individuals from the Nikol area with 489.410 grams of mephedrone, a synthetic drug, valued at ₹48.94 lakh. The total seizure, including other materials, amounts to ₹49.05 lakh.

According to officials, acting on a specific tip-off, the SOG team intercepted the accused near Bhakti Circle on the road leading to Nikol police station, between a petrol pump and Awakar Homes. The arrested have been identified as Piyush Somabhai Patel (39), a resident of Modasa, and Sachinsinh Prafulsinh Puwar (38), a resident Modasa — both from Gujarat’s Aravalli district.

During the search, police recovered a press identity card in the name of accused Sachinsinh Puwar, which has raised further suspicion. Officials stated that the legitimacy of the ID is currently under investigation.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Detection of Crime Branch police station.
