Back-to-back fire incidents were reported from the same spot in Surat’s Shivshakti Textile Market in the last 24 hours.

A total of 20 firefighters reached the spot after massive smoke engulfed over 12 shops. Currently, the fire brigade team is working to control the blaze.

Notably, one individual died of asphyxia (death by smoke inhalation) on Tuesday after a fire broke out at the same spot.

Initial reports suggested that Tuesday's fire was caused by a blast in an AC compressor.

The fire spread to at least five shops in the basement. The firefighters continuously sprayed water in an attempt to control the blaze. However, due to the intensity of the fire, large clouds of smoke were visible.
