The Ahmedabad City Prevention of Crime Branch (PCB) on Friday evening arrested two brothers for allegedly stocking and selling Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) without a permit from their home and vehicles in Navrangpura. Officers said liquor worth ₹2.32 lakh was recovered during the raid.

The PCB officials received a tip-off that Hitesh Bansilal Chaudhary (24) and his elder brother Laxmanlal Bansilal Chaudhary (30) were engaged in the illegal sale of liquor from their residence located near Darpan crossroads, Navrangpura. The brothers hail from Khodav village in Rajasthan’s Salumbar district.

Acting on the information, a team of PCB conducted a raid around 2.45 pm. Police said they first intercepted Hitesh near the house, where three sealed 750 ml bottles of IMFL were found in a college bag. Upon questioning, Hitesh admitted that more liquor was stored inside the house and in their two-wheelers parked outside.

During a subsequent search of the premises, officers found 39 bottles of assorted IMFL brands. Two scooters, an Access and an Activa, were also seized, along with three mobile phones. The total value of the seized liquor and vehicles is estimated at ₹2.32 lakh, police said.

The consignment, they said, was allegedly intended for sale to a regular customer in the city. A case has been registered at Naranpura police station under relevant provisions of the Gujarat Prohibition Act.

Police have also named Naresh Manilal Kalal, a resident of Ghatlodia, as the suspected recipient of the liquor. He is absconding, and efforts are underway to trace him. Both Hitesh and Laxmanlal remain in police custody, and further investigation is in progress.
