Two BAPS monks die after car swept away by flooded causeway near Botad

A car carrying monks of Swaminarayan BAPS from Bochasan (Anand) to Sarangpur (Surendranagar) was swept away in a flooded causeway in Botad, claiming two lives on Sunday.
Amid continuous rain in and around Botad, roads and causeways are flooded.
Seven BAPS monks were in the car when it was swept away by strong water currents while crossing the causeway in Botad.
Out of the seven, Krishnakant Pandya and Prabuddha Kasiya lost their lives, while four others were rescued safely, and one person remains missing.
Local rescue teams and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) reached the site promptly. Senior officials, including the Barwala Mamlatdar and police authorities, have also arrived at the scene.
The search for the missing person is ongoing by the local rescue team.
A similar incident occurred last month when an Eeco car with nine people onboard was swept away in Botad rains. On June 18, at least four people died and three others were missing. The relentless monsoon rains in the Botad district have led to significant loss of life, underscoring the urgent need for swift and decisive action from the authorities.
