Training aircraft skids off runway at Amreli airport, no injuries reported

A major mishap was narrowly averted at the training airstrip in Amreli in Gujarat on Saturday morning after a training aircraft veered off the runway during routine operations. Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported.

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred during a scheduled training session when the aircraft suddenly skidded on the runway and exited the paved area. Airport officials said the skid appears to have caused the loss of control.

The incident has once again brought to focus safety preparedness at the training facility, as this is not the first such case at the Amreli airstrip. A similar incident had been reported earlier as well. In a previous serious accident, a pilot lost his life in a crash near the same airport.

Shortly after Saturday’s incident, authorities attempted to assess the situation. Later, the Amreli Prant Officer confirmed the occurrence of the runway excursion and said further details would be available after a technical review.

A detailed inquiry is expected to determine the exact cause of the skid and whether weather, surface conditions or technical issues played a role.
