Traffic restrictions announced in Motera for India–South Africa T20 clash on December 19

The Ahmedabad City Police have announced traffic restrictions and diversions in parts of Motera and adjoining areas on Thursday in view of the India–South Africa T20 international scheduled to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday, December 19.
In an order issued on December 18, Police Commissioner G S Malik said the measures were being enforced to ensure smooth vehicular movement for spectators, players, VVIPs and the general public, and to prevent traffic congestion and road accidents during the high-profile match.
The restrictions have been imposed under Section of the Gujarat Police Act, 1951, and will remain in force from 3 pm to midnight on December 19, and from midnight to 2 am on December 20.
Roads to remain restricted
According to the notification, vehicular traffic of all kinds will be restricted on the stretch from Janpath T-junction to the Motera Stadium main gate, via Krupa Residency T-junction and Motera Village T-junction. The police said the restriction has been put in place considering the heavy inflow of vehicles expected near the stadium in a limited time window.
Alternative routes suggested
To facilitate smooth movement, the police have advised motorists to use the following alternative routes
Vehicles travelling towards Motera can proceed from Tapovan Circle to ONGC Crossroads, then via Visat T-junction to Janpath T-junction and onwards to Power House Crossroads. Movement to and from Prabodhaval Circle will be allowed through these routes.
Commuters may also use the route via Krupa Residency T-junction, Sharan Status Crossroads and Bhat–Koteshwar Road, leading towards Apollo Circle, to avoid the restricted stretch near the stadium.
Traffic police personnel will be deployed at key junctions to guide motorists and manage diversions, officials said.
Exempted vehicles
The restrictions will not apply to vehicles directly associated with the cricket match, government vehicles on official duty, fire brigade and ambulance services, vehicles responding to emergencies, and residents living within the restricted area.
Police warned that violation of the traffic order will invite legal action under Section of the BNS, and Section of the Gujarat Police Act. The Commissioner has authorised the filing of complaints against violators.
