Commuters in Ahmedabad are set to face disruptions over the next few weeks as the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) begins major repair work on the Tragad Underpass and Vatva Railway Overbridge along the Sardar Patel Ring Road.

According to a notification issued by the Ahmedabad Traffic Police, both bridges will remain closed for 40 days, with alternative routes and diversions put in place.

At Tragad Underpass, traffic will be diverted in two phases, the Zundal Bridge to Vaishnodevi Circle stretch will remain closed for the first 20 days, followed by the Vaishnodevi Circle to Zundal Bridge route for the next 20 days. A total of 4.33 km of the SP Ring Road will remain shut during this period. Commuters are advised to use the Adalaj-Vaishnodevi alternate route.

Similarly, the Vatva Railway Overbridge will also undergo 40 days of repair. In the first phase, the Hathijan Circle to Aslali Circle stretch will be closed, followed by the reverse direction in the second phase. Motorists are advised to take the Ropda Crossroads-Saraswati Crossroads route as an alternative.

In addition, Kalupur Railway Station will witness six months of closure on the road stretch between DCP Zone-3 and Relief Road for girder installation work on the bridge pillars. However, the road directly in front of the station will remain open for vehicles

Authorities have urged commuters to follow traffic signs, use designated diversions, and plan their travel in advance to avoid delays.
